The brief

Overhead view of hands with silver bracelets typing on a laptop at a wooden table, next to an open notebook and pen.
The brief

We're a small accountancy practice in Leeds working with sole traders and small businesses. Our clients find tax stressful. We wanted content that explains dates and rule changes calmly, and shows there are real people here to help.

01 · Challenge

The challenge

Tax content can sound alarming, and it dates quickly. Northfield needed accurate dates, a plain explanation of Making Tax Digital and a feed that feels reassuring.

02 · Approach

The approach

  1. Built a mint and forest palette, keeping coral for reviews and questions only.
  2. Set out the Self Assessment dates clearly: 31 October for paper returns, and 31 January for online returns and any tax owed.
  3. Explained Making Tax Digital for Income Tax with its real thresholds: qualifying income over £50,000 from April 2026, over £30,000 from April 2027 and over £20,000 from April 2028.
  4. Gave the LinkedIn newsletter a fixed 3-2-1 shape, so each issue is quick to read and quick to write.
03 · Deliverables

What I delivered

  • Logo, tagline and colour palette
  • Tone-of-voice notes with lines to use and avoid
  • 9-post Instagram grid
  • 6-slide Making Tax Digital PDF carousel
  • Annotated spreadsheet post with illustrative figures
  • 'Screenshot this' year-end checklist
  • LinkedIn newsletter in a 3-2-1 format

Please noteSample content based on HMRC guidance as of October 2026. Figures are illustrative, and it is not tax advice.

Grid logic

Mint and forest keep the feed calm. Coral appears only where we want a reaction, such as reviews and questions, so it never feels alarming.
